Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, former head of Government of the city of Buenos Aires, confirmed his participation in the legislative elections of the district that will take place on May 18. Amid speculations about a possible expulsion from the PRO, the party he founded, Rodríguez Larreta decided to return to the political arena of the City.
With only two days left until the deadline for alliance registration for the elections, the former official avoided detailing the force he will compete for, generating uncertainty among his supporters and political adversaries. It is rumored that he could present himself accompanied by a new political space.
Among those supporting Rodríguez Larreta is Pablo Avelluto, former Cultural Minister of Cambiemos and member of the Movement for Development (MAD), who criticized the PRO for its alleged Stalinist and anti-democratic attitude. Avelluto expressed his support for the former head of Government on social media and his discontent with the current situation of the party.
Another important point was the meeting held by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, with PRO deputies Diego Santilli and Cristian Ritondo, aiming to forge an electoral alliance in the province of Buenos Aires to face Governor Axel Kicillof. This political move aims to strengthen the presence of the PRO in a key district.
In his publications, Rodríguez Larreta expressed his motivation to return to local politics: "I return because it hurts me. Every sidewalk, every corner. I return out of love for Buenos Aires." His words reflect his commitment to the city he governed for years and his intention to contribute to its improvement, especially in a context of crisis and social discontent.
